Yu-Mei assesses fiction and creative non-fiction manuscripts for the National Arts Council in Singapore, The Literary Consultancy in the U.K., and individual writers. She provides advice on story, style, audience and readership appeal in a written report, which may be accompanied by a one-on-one phone, video or email consultation.

In 2020, Yu-Mei was the featured editor for The Literary Consultancy’s British East and South East Asian (BESEA) Free Read, which awarded one BESEA fiction writer with a manuscript assessment and one-to-one consultation to support the development of their writing.
